Thermal insulation of facades
Thermal insulation of facades is an empowerment of enclosing structures of buildings and structures necessary for a given region with heat resistance.
Do I need to insulate the facade?
Maybe not necessary. Someone warming like gold teeth, and someone like a false jaw. Warming of the facade will certainly have an effect if:
- you have a panel house;
- black corners and slopes;
- the temperature in winter in your house is below +24;
- want to save on heating up to 40%;
- want to save up to 20% on air conditioning in summer;
- you have a goal to sell your property more expensively.
Please note that the climate in your home depends not only on whether the facade is insulated or not, but also on the quality of the windows, the heating system and the ventilation mode.
The urgency of warming is indisputable. At the present time, the insulation of facades is becoming widespread. We can say that the insulation of facades is not a luxury, but a necessity. It remains only to prepare the necessary amount and choose the right performers.
How to insulate the facade?
It is possible to warm the facade mainly with three types of materials: foam plastic, mineral wool and extruded polystyrene foam. The latter material is the same foam, only more dense, and allowing less water vapor to pass through, which in general is not always desirable. In principle, mineral wool differs from polyfoam, or rather, one of its types is hydrophobic (non-moisture absorbing) stone wool. This insulation is absolutely non-flammable and is completely environmentally friendly. However, its price is significantly higher than the price of foam.
We do NOT recommend warming the facade of an apartment or house with extruded polystyrene foam, however, we recommend warming them with a balcony.
We recommend to insulate the APARTMENT with polyfoam, and the HOUSE with hydrophobic stone wool.
The apartment can of course be warmed with cotton and will only be better, it’s just more expensive.
What thickness should be insulation 50 or 100 mm for facades
You could see loud statements that the insulation thickness of 50 mm is money down the drain. But we would not be in such a hurry. Our houses are not built of glass and concrete, but their heat resistance was calculated by engineers. Yes, the attitude towards energy resources was different, however, in the apartments it was commonplace to be comfortable, and the batteries were not hot until they were red. Now we are talking not only about a comfortable climate, but also about saving on heating.
Be sure that you will feel a significant difference in the increase in heat when insulation is 50 mm thick, but if in doubt, insulate 100 mm, the price difference is not very large. If your apartment is 25 sq.m. (two windows + balcony + arrangement of slopes), insulation of its facade with foam plastic at 50mm will cost you about $ 350 (in 2016), including the cost of materials, if it is 100mm, then $ 380.
What should be foam for facade insulation
Used in the insulation of facades polyfoam bona fide performers has the brand PSB-S, where the letter “C” means “self-extinguishing”, that is, one that does not burn in the absence of a fire source acting on it. Its density should be not less than 15.1 kg / cubic meter, which means that 20 sheets of foam plastic with a thickness of 50 mm should weigh at least 15 kg.
What should be mineral wool for facade insulation
Density from 135kg / cubic meter. Have hydrophobic additives that reduce moisture absorption. It is desirable that it was just stone wool. Read the manufacturer’s recommendations, the appointment of wool should be – insulation of facades. Otherwise, your insulation will not work.
What material to warm the facade is your choice. If our recommendations did not seem convincing to you, you can read the opinion of the manufacturer in the article “Polyfoam or mineral wool? Opinion manufacturer “
Every citizen will take advantage of the facade insulation service sooner or later, as it was with the replacement of wooden window frames with plastic ones, it’s all just a matter of time.
Do not waste time – order a professional thermal insulation!
